Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of healing discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in the early 1800s.

It is often confused with herbalism, nutrition or other healing modalities.

Homeopathy is based on the idea that disease or ailments are the result of a disturbance or weaknesses in an organism’s “spirit-like vital force”.

Dr. Hahnemann described the vital force as “a dynamic, immaterial, spirit-like force that embodies the essence of life and all of its metabolic and functional activities.”

Homeopathy is essentially energy medicine that promotes an individual’s health across the physical, mental, and emotional planes.

Homeopathy helps a person to feel better by encouraging the vital force to return to balance using homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathic remedies are derived from different naturally occurring substances using a series of dilutions. The substances are diluted and shaken many thousands of times so that the material substance is removed and the energetic pattern of the substance remains and is enhanced.

Homeopathy for over 200 years has been used by millions of people to bring about rapid, gentle results. Before the 1920s, many institutions were based upon the principles of homeopathy including

the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center, the Allentown Homeopathic Hospital and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Homeopathy, up until that time, accounted for roughly 25% of all healing modalities practiced in

the United States. The English Royal Family has a long tradition of using homeopathy. So do many historical figures and celebrities including Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mahatma Ghandi, Paul McCartney

and Cher.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy works by stimulating the body’s “spirit-like vital force”. The vital force is known by different names across cultures and healing modalities including, “prana” in Sanskrit, “chi” or “qi” in Chinese, “pneuma” in Greek and “ruah” in Hebrew.
When the vital force is stimulated, your body may need to purge itself of imbalances or toxins. Sometimes conditions that have been suppressed need to normalize in order to bring about improved health.
According to homeopathic principles, the body rebalances inner to outer, top to bottom. This rebalancing can sometimes be observed through the appearance or reappearance of various symptoms. Homeopathy refers to these reactions as “aggravations”. They are an extension of the healing process and an indication the vital force is moving in the
right direction.
Aggravations often take the form of previous symptoms that were once suppressed. The recurrence of such symptoms will generally not be as severe as the initial event nor will it last as long. If an aggravation occurs, it may appear as an eruption on any part of the body or mucus discharge.
Aggravations are not a new disorder, but they can appear to be. In homeopathy an aggravation is a good sign because it indicates the path the vital force has chosen to bring balance back to your organism.
An aggravation is the body purging itself of toxins and imbalances.Because our memories of past, suppressed ailments are short, it is important to maintain contact with your healthcare provider to make sure a reaction is an aggravation and not indicative of a new condition.
As with all holistic approaches, it is necessary for the individual to take responsibility for their own well-being. Homeopathy is a complementary therapeutic. It is not “alternative medicine”.

Remedies
Most remedies come in the form of lactose globules (sugar pills). The pills have been covered with a tincture by the homeopathic pharmacy that produced it.
Keep them stored in a dry place away from sunlight and extreme heat or cold. Due to their delicate nature, avoid exposing remedies to magnetic fields, x-rays or routers.
Remedies are taken under the tongue and should not be directly touched. Try to avoid eating or drinking 15 minutes before and after taking one.
Several substances have been known to interfere with remedies. It is important to avoid these substances when using homeopathics.
AVOID:
  • Camphor
  • Coffee
  • Eucalyptus
  • Licorice
  • Marijuana
  • Menthol
  • Mint
  • P'au D'arco
  • Tea Tree Oil

Essential Oils

Essential oils are complex mixtures of aromatic chemicals found in certain kinds of plants. They contain many therapeutic compounds including antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, antimicrobials and anxiolytics. (Dhifi et al., 2016).

The term “essential oils” comes from the Latin word “essentia”.  “Essential” was first applied to distilled oils from plants and then to “fragrance” in the 1700s.

Therapeutic grade essential oils are a more complete expression of aromatic plant material and have a number of healthful benefits. The application of essential oils for health benefits is called “aromatherapy”.

Essential oils are not air fresheners or perfumes. Commercial fragrances do not contain the full volatile organic compounds of traditional aromatic substances. Essential oils are volatile compounds, they need to be bottled up or they will evaporate on their own.

Commercial fragrances are not volatile, they need to be put into the air through pressure or heat. They are usually obtained from the plant material via steam distillation.

When essential oils are blended together they are often blended with a therapeutically selected carrier oil. A therapeutic blend of oil does not contain fillers or other added chemicals.

Precaution needs to be taken when using essential oils therapeutically. For example, some essential oils should not be used if pregnant, if prone to epilepsy or if taking certain medications. Some essential oils should not be applied undiluted to the skin.

Each person has a unique biological makeup, which is why precaution always needs to be taken when using essential oils. Individuals must take responsibility for their own well-being. (Wellington, 2020)

Information and statements regarding essential oils have not been evaluated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any health condition or disease.

Essential oil works differently depending upon the person’s biological makeup and three other factors: how it is being applied, which oils are being used and the dilution rates of the oils.
Aromatherapy
is a holistic therapeutic in that it takes into account a person’s physical, mental and emotional aspects. Some essential oils should not be used if pregnant, if prone to epilepsy or if taking certain medications. Some essential oils should not be applied undiluted to the skin. As with all holistic approaches it is necessary for the individual to take responsibility for their own well-being. Aromatherapy is a complementary therapeutic. It is not “alternative medicine”.

PSYCH-K®

PSYCH-K® is a method of introducing positive affirmations to the subconscious mind. A self-limiting belief is identified, then a positive belief statement is crafted to remedy it.

Psychological Kinesiology, a form of biofeedback and from where the term “PSYCH-K®” is derived, “is used to establish communication with the subconscious.

Then together we can replace old beliefs buried deep in our subconscious that hinder us with new life-affirming beliefs that support us.” (Doran)
